This 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 21-window Deluxe is a “Samba” model finished in two-tone red and white over Mesh Platinum vinyl upholstery. The 21-window body was factory-finished in Titian Red and Beige Grey and was repainted approximately 21 years ago. Exterior equipment includes deluxe trim, a sliding fabric sunroof, eight skylight windows, six pop-out side windows, safari-style windshields, and chrome jack hole covers. The bus rides on 14″ steel wheels with chrome VW-stamped hubcaps and thin-whitewall tires, while stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
The walk-through front cabin features low-back bucket seats retrimmed in Mesh Platinum vinyl with matching door panels. Interior details include a Vintage Speed shifter, a parcel shelf, a radio delete plate, and an overhead ventilation unit. The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an 80-mph VDO speedometer and a fuel level gauge, while the five-digit odometer shows 32k miles.
Dual swing-out doors on the right provide access to the rear cabin, which houses two additional rows of bench seating and lap belts. The rear cargo area is fitted with “jail bars” and a full-size spare. The replacement 1.6L single-port engine is fed by a single downdraft carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels.
